WildTrack- CPT Tigers help their Wild Cousins
This month, CPT’s tigers play host to a research team from SAS to help save endangered tigers in the wild, a big job for our tiger ambassadors.
How do they do it? Walk this way!
Volunteers from the SAS Institute lay sand in one of CPT's tiger enclosures as the target tiger (in this case, Raj) watches from a separate section. The volunteers exit the enclosure, and Raj is released and coaxed to walk across the sand. Once Raj has been adequately printed and safely separated, volunteers reenter the enclosure to collect prints.

CPT lost Pollo tiger this past month. In his last few weeks, Pollo had stopped greeting the visitors he so enjoyed, and clearly showed signs of discomfort. To spare him further pain, CPT made the difficult decision to euthanize. His failing health was most likely caused by diabetes or kidney failure.
Volunteers and staff remember Pollo as our best chuffler, and most notorious sprayer! Pollo especially liked to spray kid's tours, perhaps because he got the biggest reaction from them. He would then look over his shoulder and chuffle- you could almost hear his laughter. He had even perfected bi-directional spraying- the only tiger at CPT to do it. He would sometimes "fake it", just to hear extra squeals!
